Our City Expert's Tips

Roqueta Island is just a few minutes away from downtown Acapulco (catch a boat in Playa Caleta or Playa Tlacopanocha). It is a protected nature reserve with hiking trails and two beaches. You could spend the day around the beach swimming, snorkeling, and sampling some seafood, but it's worth taking a hike up the hill to the lighthouse to see the amazing view from the top.

Playa Roqueta is the beach where the boats arrive so most folks just stay there, but if you would like to go to a more secluded beach, follow the trail to Playa Marin. There are no beach umbrellas or restaurants here--it's completely virgin.

Sports Enthusiast
This is Acapulco's best site for snorkeling and scuba diving. You can rent gear on the island or bring your own.
