Our City Expert's Tips

Traveler's Rest is a gem in the mountains. One of the most well-preserved frontier buildings in the southeastern United States, it was built in 1784 as a single family dwelling and eventually expanded into a relatively large boarding house. The kitchen and all the outbuildings are still outfitted with mostly original accoutrement and the tour is truly interesting. The atmosphere at this corner of the woods is also very pleasant.
