Our City Expert's Tips

The boulevard is named for Mexican naval officer Antonio Mijares. During the Mexican American War (1846-48), U.S. Marines briefly occupied the city, and a siege organized by Mijares led to success, and the expulsion of the U.S. forces.

Take it Easy
Relax with a cool drink at any number of restaurants that have a covered outdoor veranda or inner courtyard. Some chips and guacamole make a great start to a lunch or a prelude to dinner under the stars.
