Our City Expert's Tips

The Shoreline Pedestrian Bike Path runs along the water for just over three miles from Shoreline Village in downtown Long Beach to Alamitos Bay and makes for a leisurely cruise. Rent bikes at Alfredo's Beach Club (+1 562 434 6121), with locations at 700 Shoreline Dr and at the Belmont Pier.

Family Time
If you have small kids, make a beeline to Marine Park (also known as Mother's Beach), and find a calm and quiet inlet of the bay. The waves are pint-sized here (if there are any at all), the water is shallow, and kids can frolic in the sand and in a grassy play area. There are volleyball courts, too. It's just off Appian Way, north of 2nd St Kayak. Pedal-boat rentals are also available.

Kids can learn how to sail at the Leeway Sailing and Aquatics Center. Call +1 562 570 1719 for more information.
