Our City Expert's Tips

Centennial Park has a little something for everybody. Architecture and history buffs will enjoy the Parthenon, a full-scale replica of the real thing in Athens, Greece. Art lovers will want to venture inside to see the Athena statue and the art museums. (See our separate listings for both the Parthenon and Athena.) Children and adults will enjoy the swings, and kids love to feed the ducks in Lake Watauga. There is also ample room to run, play, or throw a Frisbee, and Centennial Park is frequently the site of events, such as the Tennessee Crafts Fair (see our listing under Events) and the annual blues festival. Lots of people who work downtown or in the West End like to go there for lunch, and many of them find time to get a little walking in.
