Our City Expert's Tips

This is really off-the-beaten track despite the park's famous inhabitants. You need to be a die-hard bird-watcher, nature-fan and/or hiker to really enjoy these surroundings. There are few creature comforts available and the park is as nature intended: fairly impenetrable in parts. The mosquitoes can be relentless.

The rewards are manifold, however; they provide proximity to numerous bird species, miles of unspoilt brush, and beaches as well as the largest flock of flamingos in this hemisphere. Don't miss the enclosed marine turtle reserve in the park.

Remember to get your permit before you leave the mainland--the rules are strict!
