This town south of Puerto Vallarta used to be known as a getaway for the beach bum, the leftover hippy, and the surfer, but nearby resort life has upscaled it somewhat. Nevertheless, it retains the local flavor with outdoor markets, inexpensive lodgings, and local festivities.
