Our City Expert's Tips

The Church of Guadalupe is a reflection of the Catholic spirit of Puerto Vallarta, since the Virgin of Guadalupe is the Patron Saint of the town. For this reason, the first twelve days of December, culminating on December 12th, are dedicated to the Virgin of Guadalupe in processions. It's a time of festivities but also a serious procession to many, re-dedicating the coming year to the Virgin and giving thanks for the previous year. The church itself is an interesting construction and worth a visit at any time. It's open to the public, but you need to dress appropriately.

Local Culture
Visit the historic church, whether you are Catholic or not, but remember that it's a religious institution and should be treated respectfully.
