Our City Expert's Tips

If you're driving downtown, there's a public parking garage (secure and covered) at a reasonable cost at the Plaza Parque Hidalgo on the left side just a block before reaching the Malecon. It's a good place to leave your worries and actually see something as you stroll along the Malecon instead of stressing in the traffic. On the south end of downtown is a second parking area (multi-level) just before the river, with an entrance on the right side. Figure out before you get downtown which parking lot is closer to where you want to go.
If you take a Centro bus, it will turn left at the Parque Hidalgo and go along Morelos instead of the Malecon until it reaches the lighthouse, at which point the Malecon traffic joins Morelos traffic. Get off right after seeing the Main Plaza on one side and Los Arcos on the other; the bus will drop you off an easy block away.

Local Culture
Downtown (Centro) is where most of the action takes place in Puerto Vallarta.
