Our City Expert's Tips

Visiting the Clarksburg appellation MUST include a drive through the Delta: small towns, local flavors, history (the Chinese town of Locke; historic Ryde Hotel), incredible scenery, and wildlife galore. You can actually drive the River Road all the way to Antioch. You'll pass through Lodi-Woodbridge, the next appellation. And the variety of draw- and swing-bridges is amazing. Downstream, the last remaining car ferries, the J-Mack and the Real McCoy, still ply the Delta waters.

And in the warm months, just around the bend from the Old Sugar Mill and across the road from downtown Clarksburg (don't blink you'll miss it), look for the Dinky Diner, a seasonal trailer, covered with wooden shingles, that serves up great Clarksburgers, turkey burgers, and fries along the banks of the Sacramento River.
