Description

Founded in 1847 by Jacob Christian, Carlsberg Brewery had its humble beginnings here on Valby Hill (since renamed Fredriksberg Hill) because of the high-quality water source nearby. By the late 19th century, the company had attained an international reputation for its beer, which has not abated since. The original facilities have been extensively renovated since those early days, and now include an excellent visitors center where Carlsberg fans can enjoy learning about the brewery's past and present with interactive exhibits. The new Jacobsen Brewhouse, also located on the premises, offers a unique glimpse into modern-day brewing techniques; the panoramic view of large copper kettles from the brewery's bar is not to be missed. And don't forget to sample the fruits of all this labor before you leave--your admission fee includes two free tastings.
