A fun and educational way to learn the history of Canada--how the country has scientifically and technologically progressed over the centuries--is to visit the Canada Science and Technology Museum. Here, you and your kids can push, pull, tug, and blast off throughout the exhibits, in hopes of engaging and inspiring the young ones to get involved with the future of Canada's science and technology programs. There are several exhibits to explore, both permanent and rotating, so plan on spending a few hours here. As the largest museum of it's kind in all of Canada, this place has something that will intrigue and entertain everyone in your group.
Best Modes of Transportation:
Automobile/Car
Notes: Although the street address is St. Laurent Blvd, the entrance to the museum is actually on Lancaster Rd. If you're driving southbound on St. Laurent Blvd. (as you will be, if you're heading from downtown), move into the left-hand lane once you pass Innes Rd. Watch for the lighthouse on your left, then turn left onto Lancaster Rd. (This intersection is doubly confusing because Lancaster Rd becomes Smyth Rd on the west side of St. Laurent, so some street signs at the intersection will read "Smyth" and may lead you to think you're in the wrong place.) Driving is probably your best option; the museum is time-consuming to reach on public transit and expensive by cab. It's also too far to walk to from downtown.
