This three-story Jacobean Revivalist building served as the home of Alberta's first six lieutenant governors. The grand sandstone edifice, which features high gabled roofs, bay windows, and rectangular windows grouped closely together, was designed by R.P. Blakey and officially opened in 1913. The house was soon vacated and closed in 1938, however, and remained so for a few years until WWII, when it was turned into a convalescent home for wounded veterans. In the 1970s, the house was extensively restored back to its original splendor, and it is now used to host high-level government receptions and conferences, although the general public is welcome to visit as well.
