The name for this interpretive center on the banks of the Red River at Lockport, a half-hour north of Winnipeg, comes from the Cree words for "there are many fishes." This is where native people fished as long as 3,000 years ago (and where locals still troll for catfish, walleye, and occasional northern pikes). There's information here on archeology, culture, and history, sprinkled with artifacts that have been dug out from the nearby riverbank area.
