Descendants of African slaves, the "Gullah" people generally live in communities on the islands off the coasts of Georgia and South Carolina. They work hard to uphold many aspects of their rich heritage, including the customs, art, language, stories, and songs of their ancestors. The De Gullah Creations Gallery provides a place where Gullah artisans and craftspeople can display and sell their art, and bring a share of the profits back into their community. Some highlights of the gallery include paintings, sweetgrass baskets, and clothing. In addition to selling art, the gallery is also a great resource for information about the unique Gullah culture and tradition.
