Description
Teaching all about Gullah culture, the Gullah Tours snake through family-based communities that have been successful in preserving their unique culture in the midst of the resort community of Hilton Head. The tours are led by fourth generation Gullah family members who are well-versed in traditional stories, language, beliefs, and other cultural aspects of Gullah life. These people have a unique post-slavery history based in the sea islands of South Carolina and Georgia; one that they are currently trying to preserve in the face of the pressures of modern development.
