As the largest urban wildlife preserve in the United States, the Bronx Zoo is home to over 4,000 animals and is situated on 265 acres of land in Bronx Park. It is split up into habitats, where multiple species of animals live together in their natural surroundings. One of the most popular exhibits of the zoo is the Congo Gorilla Forest., a 6.5 acre preserve filled with lush greenery, wooded paths, and one of the largest breeding groups of lowland gorillas that coexist with cute Colobus monkeys. It's an area you won't want to miss. Also, check out the Himalayan Highlands Habitat to transport yourself to the high mountain region and mingle with red pandas and highly endangered snow leopards.
