This historic building sits on the campus of the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, and serves both the academic and public communities of Atlantic City. It was built in 1904 and donated as a gift to the city of Atlantic City by steel magnate Andrew Carnegie. It was originally used as the city's public library for 80 years after its construction, then was acquired by the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) in the mid-1990s. The CRDA and the City of Atlantic City collaborated in a $5 million renovation of the building, and now it's used as a multi-use facility. The building features beautiful 1900s-era architectural details, including a granite and marble exterior, marble staircases, columns, and other details. It currently serves as a venue for undergraduate and graduate college classes, conferences and meetings, and other city events.
