Located on sloping Musgrove Hill, Alexandra Park is a 196-acre, green public space enjoyed by the whole city. It has its own nature reserve, boating lake, walking trails, and a popular ice rink. The park is dominated by Alexandra Palace, which sits atop the hill overlooking the grounds. The palace was originally constructed in 1873 as the "peoples palace" of London; it went through two fires, one in 1875 and one in 1980, and still remained a great entertainment and recreation locale. It is now used as a venue for concerts, conferences, and parties; the Palace Theatre also puts on stage productions throughout the year.
