Overlooking the City of Los Angeles, Barnsdall Art Park had its beginning in the early 1900s when Aline Barnsdall arrived in Los Angeles from Chicago with plans to develop a theater company. In 1927, when she donated the park and its Frank Lloyd Wright designed structures to the city, she instructed that an active arts center remain open on the site, preserving Wright's famous Hollyhock House as a key element. The arts center continues to thrive today as a vital community center, showcasing the work of accomplished artists and providing arts training for the city's youth and adults.
