Planned by A Palladio, this church was built between 1570 and 1580. In 1576, a deadly plague spread among the population. The doge then dedicated this church to the Redeemer, in return for mercy on his people. This may also explain the vast length of the church, leading to the altar. The statue of Faith rising above the façade can only be seen from the canals. During religious festivals, the church is joined to the opposite side of the Giudecca canal with a bridge of boats. Mass is held at 10a and 6:30p on sundays; and at 6:30p on saturdays and holidays.
