Description

The Bernardo Winery has been aging for 119 years and carries the distinguished title of of the oldest wineries in California. The winery has been in the Rizzo family since the Prohibition era, when Vincent Rizzo bought the facility and continued its operations in those tough years by producing sacramental wine and grape juice. In addition to wine, the winery produced olive oil from the various olive trees on the property and was one of the major suppliers to tuna canneries in San Diego. In 1962, Vincent's son, Ross took over the winery operations and has made the space what is today. On the winery's grounds, there is a coffee shop, cafe, other shops, and a tasting room.
