St. Ann Pedro District Bensonton, |
Edinburgh Castle was built by Lewis Hutchinson, Jamaica's first confirmed serial killer. Hutchinson, a Scottish doctor who came here in the 1760's, would shoot any solitary person walking by and then make his slaves to throw the corpse into a sinkhole situated on his property. It is rumored that in his nastiest madness he would actually bid his victims inside for friendly entertainment before butchering them. When Hutchinson blasted a soldier and his neighbor right in front of a white colonist, he was finally seized, tried and hanged at the Spanish Town Gallows in 1773. Although the ultimate number of people slain by Hutchinson is unsure, forty-three watches and a large amount of clothing were found in the sinkhole after searching his home following his capture. The "castle" currently sits in neglect.
