It's hard to describe Copia. Even the people who run it aren't quite sure what it is, and Copia continues to re-invent itself every couple of years. Copia is the vision of Robert Mondavi, founder of Robert Mondavi Winery, who can easily be credited to be the man who put Napa Valley on the map in the latter part of the 20th Century. Mondavi's creativity, instincts, public relations, and marketing skills not only promoted Napa Valley wines around the country and around the world, but he also set the pace for excellence in wine, and in the food and culture that goes with it. Copia's mission is to celebrate America's contributions to wine, food, and the arts. It does that through art exhibits, film, musical performances, cooking demonstrations and classes, wine tasting, its restaurant Julia's Cafe (named after the late and very famous chef Julia Child), and its own organic gardens.
