Description

The serendipitous result of a collaboration between renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma and landscape designer Julie Moir Messervy, the garden is modeled after Bach's first Suite for Unaccompanied Cello. The garden is a riot of color, texture, and motion throughout the four seasons, thanks to the ingenious use of rocks, plants and man-made materials. Kids have endless fun racing up and down the grassy steps of the amphitheater, playing hide-and-seek among the bushes, and giving impromptu performances in the pavilion. In summer, volunteers offer 45-minute garden tours on Wednesdays.
