Chemin du Roy (King's Road) From Repentigny to Quebec City, Québec Province |
Stretching for 50km from East to West, the Route de la Nouvelle-France follows the path of one of the oldest thoroughfares in Canada. Today it is also known as Avenue Royale, or the less poetic Route 360. The real charm of taking this route is the houses that are visible along the way, historical remnants of Quebec's various cultural influences--Norman, British, and Quebecois mansions dot the scenery. More important is the view of Mont Sainte-Anne nestled in the Laurentine mountain range, one of the highest ski centers in North America. Also, take a look at the Shrine of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, a pilgrimage site dating back to the 1600s. This is one of the most pleasant trips to take in all of Quebec, so be prepared to ooh and ah your way through your journey.
