The Cheek Family, who founded Maxwell Coffee, built this elegant mansion in the late 1920s. In the late 1950's, they donated the mansion and the surrounding 65 acres to the City of Nashville, which maintains the estate today. This Nashville treasure includes the botanical gardens, contemporary art galleries, a museum of art, a gift shop and the Pineapple Room restaurant. A variety of classes and workshops are available to all ages. The grounds include several types of gardens and the Woodland Sculpture Trail. Allow at least one hour to tour the house and grounds. Admission: $9 adults, $7 senior citizens and college students, $5 ages 17-6 years; free children under 6 years.
