George Travin
Photographer
Art has always been an integral part of George's life. From an early age, he learned how to draw, paint and sculpt. He also enjoyed learning about science and experimenting. It was the combination of both that drew him to photography. It did not take long before George started experimenting with his family’s Rangefinder and SLR, and he has never stopped.
George studied design and animation and made it his career, but he continued to be an active photographer. It is his art education and experiences with design that have enhanced his natural talent to make him a better photographer. Geroge does not take pictures of sunsets and clouds just because they happen to be beautiful - that is not enough for him. He needs to tell a story, needs to show the subject within its setting, and recognizes that everything reflects its surrounding. He has no problem shooting in the middle of the day, if that is when he sees a good story to tell. A picture that is composed well compensates for uninteresting light. His knowledge of the technical side of photography allows him to utilize photography's versatile aspects.

C.J. Peters
Photographer
When C.J. Peters was a lot younger, he satisfied his creative urges by playing keyboards in various rock bands. Nowadays that’s not so convenient – it would mean staying up past his bedtime – so C.J. has turned to photography instead. Photography has the added benefit of fitting in nicely with his other major hobby, travel, and in fact C.J. first caught the photo bug by taking snapshots on trips with his wife Trish. C.J. tries to shoot travel photos that evoke the unique flavor of a place – its scenery, its architecture, its people, its culture – and once in a while he even succeeds. By day, C.J. teaches law at Wayne State University Law School in Detroit. You can see more of his photos on Flickr and here.

I wish I had an interesting job photographing exotic travel locations but alas, I work at a community college in northwest Illinois doing techie stuff and teaching a short course on digital photography.
I started travelling to Aspen in 1995 when we purchased our studio timeshare (complete with Murphy bed) and just made up my mind to make a concentrated effort to document all my favorite places and things. Unlike so many other destinations, most of my favorites are still there!
