Loretta Chilcoat Jergensen is a travel writer based in Baltimore, Maryland, and has more than 12 guidebooks under her belt. She has written about Florida for Rough Guides and Lonely Planet, and is also a frequent contributor to Fodors guidebooks. She has written about Virginia Beach for Lonely Planet, Fodors, and the Baltimore Sun. Though she loves to travel on personal time, it draws the ire of her husband when she can't drop the pen and notepad on vacation! She particularly loves to travel with her pint-sized companions--her five-year-old daughter, who has racked up more frequent flier miles than her extended family in such a few short years, and her new two-month-old sister, who's first trip was a hike (and a diaper change) in Virginia’s Shenandoah mountains.

Rose is a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography and international photo award winner. Her photographs have appeared in Shutterbug magazine, on book and cd covers and in galleries throughout North Central Florida. A gypsy by nature, Rose doesn't stay in one place for very long. She has lived throughout the eastern seaboard from Cape Cod to Key West and is currently on the move to Hawaii to try the Pacific on for size. Simple living is her goal and as a digital photographer that is easier said than done!
She drags around her husband Bill and their two wonderful kids Hana, 13 and Keanu, 10. (They go quietly knowing that they have no choice) Her oldest daughter Holly, lives on her own stating that she doesn't need to see every rock between Florida and California!
Preferred escapes: Wide open spaces! Anywhere off the beaten path! (I tend to shut down in cities!) Greece, Portugal, Italy, France - a castle tour of Europe would be great, New Zealand, Peru, Alaska, Beautiful beaches with swaying palms, Canadian Rockies, heck I'll go anywhere!
