Kate McCoy

Kate McCoy

Photographer
Kate McCoy has lived in Austin most of her life minus a five-year break at Texas A&M University for college--GO AGGIES! She got hold of her mom's camera when she was little, and that's when her love for taking pictures started. Since then, her love for the hobby has grown, and she continues to enjoy it more and more each day. When she's not shooting pics of friends, sites, or her adorable niece and nephew, you can find her listening to live music, playing outdoors, or watching some NBA basketball. She loves living in Austin and everything the city has to offer and doesn't plan on moving until someone makes her. Austin is known for being "weird," so what better place to take pictures, right? See more of her work at her website at www.katemccoy.net.

Fave food: Mexican food--go too long without it and major withdrawal symptoms set in.

Preferred escapes: Anywhere with full sun and a beach or lake close by.

Liz Carmack

City Expert
Liz Carmack’s passion to help travelers make the most of their visits to Austin and Texas led her to become a freelance writer and travel planner. Her first book, Historic Texas Hotels: A Traveler’s Guide, is available from Texas A&M University Press.

Since she moved to Austin in 1988, Liz has worked for several iconic Austin institutions--including the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, KLRU-TV (the home of Austin City Limits), and the Texas House of Representatives. As a volunteer, she has counseled tourists at the Austin Visitor Center. Among friends, family and co-workers, she's always been the go-to gal for travel advice.

Liz began her career as a newspaper journalist, and earned a master’s degree in mass communication from the University of Leicester in Leicester, England, on a Rotary Foundation International Scholarship.

In addition to travel, her many interests include music, dancing, art, history, literature, and the outdoors.

Larry D. Moore

Larry D. Moore

Photographer
Austin has grown from a mid-size, laid back, college town in the 1970s to a bustling metro area of more then a million people today. Larry D. Moore has watched the transformation over the past 35+ years he has lived in the Austin area and has been photographing the metamorphosis almost as long.

Starting as a photographer for his high school newspaper and yearbook, Larry branched out to shooting a few weddings and a short stint running the black & white darkroom at a local photo lab. In the past year, he made the transition from film to digital and is still learning the techniques of the "digital darkroom." Today, he is an active image contributor and editor on Wikipedia. See more of his work on Wikipedia.

Larry likes to travel the backroads of Texas and sample the Tex-Mex food along the way. He loves to play volleyball or go hiking. His favorite things to photograph are historic structures and the natural beauty of Texas.
