AnneLise Sorensen

AnneLise Sorensen

City Expert
Writer and editor AnneLise Sorensen, City Expert for New York City, has penned (and wine-tasted) her way across four continents, writing more than a dozen guidebooks for major U.S. and U.K. publishers and contributing to a host of magazines and websites, from Wallpaper Magazine to About.com. Thanks to her time spent dodging the plodding cows and careening mopeds of Delhi’s cacophonous streets, AnneLise now nimbly side-steps screeching cabbies, snow flurries (and humidity-bloated heat waves), and New York ‘tude while culling expert tips on a metropolis that continually rewards her wanderlust.

AnneLise, who is half-Catalan and half-Danish, grew up in Southeast Asia, Europe, and the United States. After graduating from UC Berkeley, she worked as a television writer and producer and then embarked on her travel-writing adventures. She has covered the globe from Spain’s fragrant orange groves, black-sand Canary Island beaches, and sweeping meseta plains (once traversed by Don Quixote on his bony horse) to the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas and the windswept isles and cobblestone streets of Denmark.

Fave food: Mediterranean in general and seafood specifically. Also loves Japanese cuisine.

Preferred escapes: Cadiz in Andalucia--beautiful landscapes, warm people, and the best fish and seafood.
