Martin Cheek has worked as a newspaper reporter and magazine freelance writer in Silicon Valley for nearly two decades. He graduated with a journalism degree from San Jose State University in 1990. This was followed by several years working as a reporter and serving as the European Bureau Chief in London with the San Jose-based news service Edittech International.

He is the author of the travel guide "Moon Handbooks: Silicon Valley." His weekly column – The Big Picture -- is published in several San Francisco Bay Area newspapers. He has written several yet-to-be published novels, and is now working on a non-fiction book about alternative energy. He lives in Morgan Hill, California, a few miles south of San Jose.

Elizabeth Robertson is a third-generation Californian who has lived in the Silicon Valley area all her life, and graduated from San Jose State University (SJSU) with a degree in Biology, a minor in Physical Science and a Humanities Honors certificate. She received a Professional Publishing Certificate from Stanford University and a Marketing Communications Certificate with Internet Achievement Award from SJSU. She currently works as Marketing Director for SciGene Corporation in Sunnyvale, a leading manufacturer of biotechnology instruments. She also owns and operates her own graphic design company, Aergo Design, specializing in producing corporate web sites. She is the web master for the California Groundwater Association, Geoconsultants, Inc. and other local companies. She is married to a geologist and former junior high school classmate. She loves traveling in Europe and cruising in the Mediterranean and visiting family in Texas.
